Welcome to LiveFromKenya blog!

Hi! Thanks for checking out my website. I've had a few blogs here and there from Tumblr going all the way back to the days of LiveJournal. On every single site, however, it’s been awhile since I've updated (sorry). So now that I'm back to traveling and field reporting, I figured why not pick up blogging again too?

So what’s been happening in my world? Plenty!

Following some international travel through reporting fellowships, I took time to work in the United States on issues of race relations and social justice. My reporting has included looking at the intersection of Latinx and LGBTQ identity and exploring what it’s like to grow up in the worst place to be black in America. But I’m most proud of a video compilation I did for my journalism idol and former colleague Gwen Ifill following her passing. You can check out all of my work right here on KenyaDowns.com by checking out my portfolio.

So what's next? I'm currently an editor and reporter with Public Radio International's Global Nation, covering immigration. But I'm also a fellow with the International Reporting Project covering human rights in the Caribbean. Check out my next post on exactly where in the world I am and what I'm working on.

Stay tuned!
